Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue's Hazardous Materials Response Team was called to the Andover Apartment complex in the 15200 block of Southwest Teal Boulevard after a light vapor was reported coming from a garage unit.
HazMat crews are working with the Beaverton Police Department to determine the nature of the activity in the garage. As a precaution, the building connected to the garage was evacuated. The building has five occupied units.
It is standard practice for hazardous material responders to maintain a safety zone while they work to locate, identify and mitigate hazardous substances.
An investigation continues to determine the material and what the owner was doing in the garage. They have not released what caused the vapor.
