The Portland Water Bureau is returning to the Bull Run Watershed for its drinking water source.
Mike Stuhr, Director for the Portland Water Bureau, says they’ve been running tests and monitoring Bull Run for Cryptosporidium with Oregon Health Authority and the Multnomah Health Department and have concluded the risk is very low and that the water is very safe.
The City’s Water Bureau took the system off the Bull Run Watershed in January and activated water from the Columbia South Shore Well Field, out of extreme caution to monitor the watershed for the common parasite found in surface water supplies.
It could take up to two weeks for the Bull Run water to make its way through the system and into homes and businesses, but Stuhr says the water will probably make its way in about 7 days, depending on how much water people use.
