Wednesday night, Camas-Washougal Fire Department crews were on the scene of a crash on SR 14 east of the 192nd Avenue Ramp.
A fire truck was blocking the left lane to protect crews that were working on the crash when it was hit from behind by a car that was travelling at highway speed.
The driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries and required extrication. A medivac airlift was requested, but was canceled after on scene crews were able to remove the patient and transport to Southwest Hospital.
No on scene fire department personnel were injured.
The vehicle that struck the engine was completely destroyed. The engine also had significant damage and is out of service pending repairs.
