Portland Fire crews were called to a house fire Monday at 11:26 p.m. at NE 33rd and Marine Dr.
When firefighters arrived they found a fast moving fire that quickly escalated. The operation went to a 2nd alarm when it appeared that heavy fire venting through the roof threatened firefighters operating on the roof and 2nd story of the home.
All firefighters were instructed to evacuate the building and conduct a "roll call" or "par" to make sure everyone was accounted for. All firefighters made it out safely and worked on the house fire from defensive positions before eventually re-entering the building.
The fire was put out just after 12:20 a.m.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause.
A man was home when the fire broke out. He made it out safely and was evaluated for smoke inhalation. He was not transported to the hospital and no other residents were in the home.
