A pedestrian was hit and killed in Vancouver late Saturday night.
Clark County Sheriff's Deputies and Vancouver Fire were dispatched to what was reported as a vehicle motorcycle collision in the 2300 block of NE Minnehaha Street. Arriving units located a pedestrian that had been struck and was down in the travel lane of eastbound Minnehaha. There was a shopping cart on it side near the pedestrian.
Rescue personnel checked the pedestrian and found that he was deceased. Witnesses stated that the pedestrian was walking eastbound in the inside eastbound lane pushing the shopping cart when he was struck by a small older white import sedan that then fled at a high rate of speed eastbound. The victim was wearing dark clothing.
The pedestrian was identified as a 44-year-old male that is a transient, his name will be released once next of kin have been notified.
35-year-old Jessica Banlhead turned herself in on Sunday. She was booked into the Clark County jail on a charge of Hit and Run.
