Portland Man Convicted Of Child Sex Abuse

43-year-old James Edward Zwaschka, from Portland, was convicted by a Clackamas County Judge Wednesday of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Sodomy in the First Degree.

James Zwaschka was initially charged with multiple counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Sodomy in the First Degree after law enforcement learned he sexually abused a child between the ages of 4 to 5 years old. Multnomah County obtained an initial report from the victim and victim's family near the end 2015. After learning the crimes took place in Oregon City, the investigation was turned over to the detectives at the Oregon City Police Department. During a six month investigation, no additional victims were located and authorities have no reason to believe there are any outstanding victims.

Oregon City Police forwarded the case to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office for prosecution. On February 8, 2017 Mr. Zwaschka was found guilty of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Sodomy in the First Degree. He was sentenced to 100 months in prison.

Sexual Abuse in the First Degree is a Class B Felony and is a Ballot Measure 11 Offense, carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 75 months in prison. Sodomy in the First Degree is a Class A Felony and is a Ballot Measure 11 Offense, carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 100 months in prison.
