The National Weather Service will have a Winter Storm Watch in effect on Friday from 4 a.m. Friday through Friday night.
Temperatures early Friday morning will be in the upper 20s and low 30s when a front moves from the south over the Willamette Valley.
The warmer system will ride over the cold air from Central Oregon and the falling rain will freeze on contact.
A dusting of snow to 1 inch of accumulation could fall before the freezing rain begins.
Freezing rain will be light in most areas...less than two tenths of an inch, but it doesn’t take much to make the roads icy. Driving Friday morning could be difficult.
Temperatures will warm during they day and the freezing rain should change to rain by Noon Friday.
The temperatures will remain colder longer near the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, so areas near Gresham, Troutdale, Camas and Washougal could get more ice and will take longer for the freezing rain to change to rain.
