After winning the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday night and securing the first 13-0 start in program history, the Oregon football team has earned the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff and a berth in the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential.

The undefeated Ducks clinched one of four first-round byes in the inaugural 12-team CFP field with their 45-37 win over Penn State in the Big Ten title game, and will await the winner of No. 8 Ohio State vs. No. 9 Tennessee in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day in Pasadena.

It will be Oregon’s second-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff. The Ducks were part of the inaugural four-team field in 2014 and defeated Florida State in the Rose Bowl to advance to the first-ever CFP National Championship Game.

Oregon will make its ninth all-time appearance in the Rose Bowl, and its fifth since 2010. The Ducks are 4-4 all-time in the game and have won in each of their last three trips, most recently defeating Wisconsin in 2020.

UO football season ticket holders, current Duck Athletic Fund donors, Order of the O members and Oregon students will be contacted by Oregon Athletics with presale information for all rounds of the College Football Playoff, including the Rose Bowl. Any remaining game tickets for the Rose Bowl will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. PT.

Oregon captured the Big Ten Championship in its first year in the league, winning a conference title game for the fifth time in program history. The Big Ten leads all conferences with four teams in the CFP field as the Ducks are joined by No. 6 Penn State, No. 8 Ohio State and No. 10 Indiana.

The Ducks are the only undefeated team in the nation at 13-0, and they own three wins over other teams selected to the College Football Playoff field in No. 3 Boise State, No. 6 Penn State and No. 8 Ohio State. Oregon has four wins against teams in the final CFP top 25 rankings, also boasting a win over No. 20 Illinois.

The Ducks are 35-5 under head coach Dan Lanning since the start of 2022 and have improved each year with 10 wins in 2022, 12 wins in 2023 and now an FBS-best 13 wins in 2024. Oregon has won 14 consecutive games after closing the 2023 season with a win in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, owning the nation’s longest active winning streak.

UO boasts arguably the nation’s most balanced team, ranking in the top 15 for scoring offense (15th, 35.9 PPG), scoring defense (13th, 17.8 PPG), total offense (14th, 449.8 YPG), total defense (11th, 301.8 YPG), passing offense (14th, 278.0 YPG), passing defense (12th, 175.7 YPG), sacks allowed (15th, 13) and sacks (3rd, 40). The Ducks have scored at least 30 points in 11 of 13 games while allowing 18 points or less nine times.

Oregon is led by quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who has played his way into contention for a spot as a Heisman Trophy finalist. The Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year threw a season-high four touchdown passes in the Big Ten Championship Game, and has racked up 35 total touchdowns (28 passing, seven rushing) on the season while ranking second nationally in completion percentage (73.2).

Gabriel is the NCAA all-time leader in career total touchdowns (187) and career starts by a quarterback (62), and he is No. 2 all-time in total yards (19,683), passing touchdowns (153) and passing yards (17,882).
