Hot and dry weather has left Oregon tinder dry and a fire that started in northeast Oregon exploded on Thursday.
The Cow Valley Fire grew to 20,000 and is burning toward the town of Brogan. 30 to 50 homes are threatened. The Oregon State Fire Marshal sent two structural task forces to help protect homes. The fire has zero containment.
The Larch Creek Fire, near Dufur, has grown to nearly 11,000 acres and also has zero containment. The fire has moved south through the Shadybrook community, but no primary homes were lost. Tygh Valley is now under a Level Three “GO NOW” evacuation order, along with Wamic and Pine Hollow.
