With kitten season in full swing, Oregon Humane Society is proud to partner with PetSmart Charities® for adoption events at four PetSmart locations in the Portland area and at PetSmart’s Meow Town in Salem during National Adoption Week, taking place July 10-16, 2023.

Adoption fees will be half price July 14 - 16.

“As expected, we are experiencing a very busy kitten season and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down,” says Eleena Fikhman, OHS Director of Adoptions. “We are very grateful to PetSmart Charities for their partnership and helping us find loving homes for kittens in need.”

During the in-store event, OHS invites those with room in their hearts and homes to meet adoptable pets in the area. Opportunities will be given to spend time with animals in spacious areas to find just the right match. Staff and volunteers will help potential adopters learn about caring for a pet and the types of tools, products and services that can support new pet parents as they welcome new family members.

“If you’re looking to do something good for your family, community and even country, consider opening your home to a new best friend,” said Heidi Marston, director of Pet Placement Initiatives at PetSmart Charities. “We continue to learn more about the benefits of the human animal bond, and adopting a pet not only adds to the quality of life, it’s also a significant contribution you can make to the country. We’re proud to work alongside partners such as Oregon Humane Society, working so hard to make meaningful connections.”

Kittens are also available for adoption at OHS’ Portland and Salem campuses, open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days/week. In Salem, adoptions are done by walk-in only. Adoptions in Portland are done by appointment, with same-day appointments for walk-ins. All adoptions include up-to-date vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, and a certificate for a free health exam with participating veterinarians.

For those animal lovers unable to adopt, OHS suggests sponsoring a pet, making a tribute gift, or purchasing an item from our Amazon Wish List.
