A crowd of around 80 people attacked several businesses in Northeast Portland breaking windows and causing other damage.
Portland Police say the group gathered in Woodlawn Park. Their notices about the event discouraged use of video streams. While attacking businesses, they used umbrellas to hide who was committing the damage.
Portland Police had to send officers from the incident to a homicide that happened at the same time. It was unrelated to the crowd. That response left fewer officers to deal with the crowd.
The group broke windows at a Popeye's restaurant, a U.S. Bank and other businesses.
They also broke windows of the Boys and Girls club, which is a non-profit organization.
Police declared an unlawful assembly and moved the crowd out of the area.
Officers made two focused arrests for actions related to the criminal activities at the U.S. Bank. 27 year-old Emma Lightstone was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief 1 and Riot. 27 year-old Emily Keppler was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief 1.
