Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced the filing of an 18-count indictment against an Oregon Department of Corrections employee for allegedly having sex while on the job inside a correctional facility with an inmate.
The indictment against 54-year-old Renee Larsen charges her with five counts of custodial sexual misconduct in the first degree, 10 counts of custodial sexual misconduct in the second degree, one count of official misconduct in the first degree, one count of official misconduct in the second degree and one count of tampering with a witness.
At the time of these alleged crimes, Larsen worked at the Columbia River Correctional Institution, located in the 9100 block of Northeast Sunderland Avenue in Portland, Oregon.
According to the indictment, the crimes alleged occurred over an eight month period in 2017 beginning in January.
The indictment alleges that Larsen unlawfully, intentionally and knowingly engaged in sexual intercourse and sexual contact with another person while she was employed at a correctional facility and that she knew the other person with whom she allegedly had sexual contact with, was an inmate. Furthermore, the indictment alleges that Larsen, as a public servant, did unlawfully and knowingly perform an act, with intent to obtain a benefit, which constituted an unauthorized exercise of her official duties and that she unlawfully and knowingly induced and attempted to induce a person whom she believed might be called as a witness in an official proceeding, to withhold testimony unlawfully.
