Vancouver House Heavily Damaged By Fire

Vancouver firefighters responded to a house fire at 12817 NE 14th street on Monday morning.

Firefighters reported that a column of smoke could be seen from around the city while they were en route.

The 911 call came in at 937 and the first fire engine arrived in five minutes and found a single story residence engulfed in flames with fire showing out of the front window and door.

Firefighters stretched an attack line to the front yard to quickly knock down the fire as they waited for additional crews to arrive.

Once additional firefighters arrived extra hose lines were extended into the house to further extinguish the fire and check for hot spots.

The only resident who was home at the time was able to escape the fire and was evaluated by paramedics with non-life threatening injuries but declined ambulance transport to the hospital.

Red Cross was requested to assist with those displaced.

The Vancouver police department responded to provide traffic control. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Vancouver fire marshal office.
