Portland Police arrested a man Tuesday afternoon for allegedly pulling a replica handgun on a MAX train during an argument.
Police were called to the South Waterfront Transit Station, located at 0698 Southwest Porter Street, on the report of a man brandishing a firearm on a TriMet MAX.
Officers arrived in the area and located a man that matched the suspect's description on the MAX. Officers contacted the suspect and took him into custody without incident. During the investigation, officers located a replica firearm in the man's possession.
Based on the preliminary investigation, officers believe the suspect was involved in an argument on the MAX as the train traveled near the Tilikum Crossing. During the argument the suspect reportedly brandished a replica firearm.
There were no reports of injury in connection with this incident.
While inspecting the seized replica firearm, officers determined the firearm was designed to fire blanks. The suspect was in possession of multiple blanks at the time of the arrest.
The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Shawn S. Brunner. Brunner was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree and Interfere with Public Transportation.
