14 Year Old Driver Killed In Crash

A teenager from Toledo, Oregon was killed in a crash early Friday morning while taking his grandparents pickup for a drive. 

At 2:42 a.m., the Oregon State Police and first responders were dispatched to a single vehicle fatal crash on SR Hwy 229 near milepost 31. 

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 14-year-old Carter Worden was traveling southbound on Hwy 229. The vehicle crossed over the centerline and struck a tree on the eastside of the highway. Instigators learned Worden, who resided with grandparents, had taken one of their vehicles during the night.

 Oregon State Police was assisted by Toledo Fire & Rescue, Toledo Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

 Toledo High-school is providing grief counselors for students.
