A Hood River County judge has ordered the teenager who admitted to starting the Eagle Creek Fire to pay more than $36-million in damages.
11 agencies submitted claims totalling nearly $37-million dollars.
In the judge's ruling it's acknowledged that the teen can't pay the full amount and can pay with a schedule arranged by the Hood River Juvenile Department.
Under Oregon law, the restitution will be reconsidered after 10 years. If the teen has stayed out of trouble, completed his community service and has made the payments the judge will reconsider waiving the remainder of the restitution.
The fire was started when the teen threw fireworks into a canyon.
