A 27-year-old man drowned in the Ash Swale, part of the Marvin Fast Reservoir, Thursday in Polk County.
The reservoir is located south of Amity.
Friends say Daniel Silva Reyes went into the water to cool off. They saw he was having trouble and before they could help him he went under.
The Newberg Swift Water Rescue team responded with boat. They located and recovered Silva Reyes’ body.
The water temperature in lakes and rivers is very cold this time of year and it’s recommended swimmers stay out of the water.
