The pilot of a single engine plane survived a crash on a sand bar near Clatskanie.
The pilot, 67-year-old Douglas Pflugradt, from Mattawa, Washington, said he experienced mechanical trouble and was attempting to land on the sandbar when the plane's wheels dug into the sand and the plane flipped onto its top.
Pflufgradt wasn't hurt.
A crew in a Coast Guard helicopter transported the pilot to Pearson Air Field in Vancouver.
Pflugradt was the only person on board and was not hurt in the crash.
