PDX Prepares For Spring Break

Portland International Airport will be extra busy March 22 - April 7, because of Spring Break travelers.

More than 800,000 travelers are expected to move through PDX during Spring Break.

The peak travel days with that timeframe will be Thursday, 3/28 and Friday, 3/29, as well as Thursday, 4/4 and Friday, 4/5, with upwards of 50,000 travelers passing through PDX each day.

PDX advises:

• Leave extra time for parking, check-in and security checkpoints: For domestic flights during the Spring Break travel period, it’s recommended that people arrive two hours early, especially if parking. Those traveling internationally should arrive 2.5 hours ahead of time.

Have time before your flight? Check out the family-friendly spots at PDX below, and tune into @flypdx (Twitter) and @pdxairport (Instagram) for more info on concession sampling events and spring celebrations.

  • Get the pre-flight wiggles out at the PDX Play Area in Concourse E (look for the bright yellow Tillamook van) or the Kids Play Area at the end of Concourse C.
  • Catch a short film at Hollywood Theatre in Concourse C.
  • Enjoy live music (dancing encouraged) and art displays throughout the airport.
  • Visit the Sensory Room in Concourse D, available to help travelers experience a range of stimuli in a safe environment.
  • To find lactation rooms or family restrooms, or to learn more about traveler resources at PDX, visit flypdx.com/accessibility.

Ongoing construction: PDX remains under construction as work continues on the new main terminal. The airport may look a bit different than your last visit, so don’t hesitate to ask for help. We have team members and tools available to answer any questions and help passengers get to the correct security checkpoint. Travelers can pick up a white courtesy phone or text 503.460.4234 for assistance—or ask one of the many friendly PDX employees, volunteers or team members in blue jackets ready to point you in the right direction.
