Heavy Traffic Expected For Salvation Army Food Box Giveaway

The Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public to expect potentially high traffic congestion near the Lloyd Center Mall on Monday, May 4, as the Salvation Army conducts its first food box giveaway at that location. The event is expected to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a weekly basis during the COVID-19 emergency.

PBOT staff worked with the Salvation Army to plan the event to minimize traffic impacts in the surrounding area. The entrance and exit at the Lloyd Center event will be on NE Halsey Street, between NE Ninth Avenue and NE 15th Avenue. People driving to the event should expect to line up in the right lane on eastbound NE Halsey to enter, and, if needed: Line up northbound along NE Ninth Avenue, westbound on NE Multnomah, and southbound on NE 15th Avenue.

The event on Monday will be followed by similar food box giveaways on Wednesday in Gresham and on Friday at Clackamas Town Center. For more information about this community event and the other events later in the week, see the website for the Portland Metro Chapter of the Salvation Army.

For more information about food assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, see the Multnomah County website for community resources.
