Sneaker Wave Risk At Coast

The National Weather Service is warning about an increased risk of sneaker waves Friday through Sunday.

The area of the coast that's affected is from the Central Oregon Coast north to the Southwest Washington Coast.

Sneaker waves happen without warning and can run significantly farther on a beach.

The water can cause logs to move or knock down beachcombers.

Children and pets should be kept away from the surf zone. People should stay off jetties, rocks and logs.

If you see someone swept into the sea don't swim after them. Call 911 and watch their location until help arrives.
