Fire At Metro South Station Stopped

A fire in a pile of garbage at the Metro South Transfer Station in Oregon City forced an evacuation Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported shortly after 12 p.m. in Bay One. The pile of garbage that was burning was 20 feet by 20 feet in size.

The building has a sprinkler system that kept the fire contained until fire crews arrived and put it out.

15 employees and 20 customers were evacuated.

No one was hurt and the building wasn't damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
