Suspicious Device Found On Seaside Beach

Several blocks in downtown Seaside were closed after someone found a suspicious item on the beach and brought it downtown before calling police.

Police responded to Avenue A and South Downing Street where the person had put the item on the ground. It was a plastic tube with both ends capped.

The Oregon State Police Bomb Squad responded and removed the device.

Seaside Police say it was a viable device filled with black powder substitute. The fuse appears to have burned out before initiating the powder.
