Impaired Driver Crashes Into Cars, Tree

Washington County Sheriff's Deputies say an impaired driver crashed into three cars and a tree in Garden Home Sunday morning.

Deputies responded to the report of a multi-vehicle crash on SW Alden Street in the Garden Home community shortly after 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies say 39-year-old Noe Garnica lost control of his SUV and crashed into two cars parked in a driveway. Garnica then reversed into another parked vehicle and a tree before coming to a stop.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Residents in the area told deputies they suspected the driver was impaired. Deputies conducted an investigation and determined that the driver was impaired by a combination of alcohol and controlled substances.

Garnica was arrested and booked at the Washington County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol and controlled substances), reckless driving and criminal mischief in the second degree. He has since posted bail and has been released.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that driving under the influence of intoxicants is a 100% preventable crime. Before drinking or using controlled substances, designate a driver or use a taxi or transportation networking company such as Uber or Lyft.
