SR 14 was closed Tuesday morning due to a spill of tar.
A tanker overturned between Salmon Falls Road and Bell Center Road, about 8 miles east of Washougal.
A detour was set up to take drivers around the scene via Salmon Falls Road.
The Washington Department of Transportation says the oil cooled and became sticky. They're having to grind the surface of the road and re-pave parts of the highway.
The work isn't expected to be finished until Wednesday morning.
