The incident started at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 when a PGE employee called the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office to report that a male and female were allegedly on PGE property located on the 33000 block of SE Faraday Rd. in Estacada.

The duo were reportedly drinking beer, looking into the powerhouse, and eventually shooting a handgun towards Hwy. 224.

Deputies responded to the scene. They arrived in the area and attempted to stop the vehicle -- a Car2Go ride-sharing Mercedes sedan -- as it fled the scene.

Deputies pursued. The chase continued for over 16 minutes eastbound on Hwy. 224, heading toward Ripplebrook Ranger Station.

During the pursuit, deputies reported that the occupants had thrown something out the window and noted the location.

The pursuit continued until 11:21 p.m., when the vehicle lost control near Milepost 47 and rolled onto its top. The occupants were identified as Francisco Javier Ortiz Jr., 22, and Chelsea Carillo Grey, 19.

Both Ortiz Jr. and Grey were transported to local hospitals to be treated for minor injuries.

K9 Vito responded to the scene along with his handler. Together, they did an article search in the area that the pursuing deputy indicated he saw one of the occupants throw something from the vehicle. K9 Vito located a pistol in the roadway and the cylinder to that pistol in thick tall grass alongside Hwy. 224.

The case is currently with the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office, being prepared for presentation to a Grand Jury.
