Lake Oswego Police have received several reports from local citizens regarding suspicious phone calls from someone claiming to be a Lake Oswego Police sergeant.
The caller claims to be "Sergeant Jason Cook" and wants to talk to people about outstanding fines they need to pay or taking care of a warrant that they or another family member may have. The caller appears to have a significant amount of information regarding the people they are calling and the calls appear to be an attempt to cause fear or concern about legal trouble and that providing money or personal information will clear the matter up.
The Lake Oswego Police Department doesn't call citizens in an attempt to obtain personal information and will never request money be sent in to clear up legal troubles. Citizens are encouraged to contact their local police department if they suspect being targeted for similar phone scams.
