Trooper’s SUV Hit

An Oregon State Police trooper had to dive into his SUV early Saturday morning to avoid being hit by a van that drifted off I-5.

The trooper was stopped on I-5 near Woodburn watching for two vehicles that were involved in speed racing. The trooper had the vehicle’s door open as he watched for the cars.

The OSP Sergeant had to jump back into his car to avoid being hit and was uninjured. The vehicle continued northbound and the OSP Sergeant was unable to pursue the suspect vehicle.

Evidence at the scene indicates that the suspect vehicle is a 2000-2005 Chevy Astro Van, with faded red paint. It’ll have right front headlight and quarter panel damage.
