A House select committee opens an investigation into the January 6th attack on the Capitol tomorrow.

Four police officers will testify about violent clashes with hordes of angry Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol.

Two Republicans will join seven Democrats on the panel. Both were named by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during a bitter and ongoing dispute with House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy. The Republicans are Wyoming's Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger from Illinois. They have accused former President Trump of instigating the Capitol assault.

McCarthy pulled his five picks from the committee after Pelosi rejected two of them. McCarthy claims the Speaker is playing politics with the Capitol attack.

Democrats accuse McCarthy of trying to divert attention away from the committee's primary task in order to protect Trump. The select committee is led by Mississippi Democrat Bennie Thompson, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.
