Senators Propose $908 Billion Coronavirus Relief Package

Congress Back In Session After Holiday Break

A bipartisan group of Senators is putting a new coronavirus relief package on the table.

The 908 billion dollar package includes more funding for the Paycheck Protection Program, an extra 300 dollars in unemployment, forbearance on student loans and more.

But the package only costs 348 billion dollars because the rest of the funding was repurposed from the first round of relief.

It will cover December 1st through March 31st. Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia says a bill needs to be passed in the next two weeks to prevent a lapse in protection once the federal CARES Act runs out.

It's unclear whether President Trump or the Senate will support the proposed bill.
