The Department of Homeland Security is reportedly planning to ask the Pentagon to send more troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to help erect more barbed wire and fences. It also includes extending the deployment of current troops, which would push the operation past its January 31st end date. The additional troops and engineers would help with 130 more miles of wire at the southwestern border, extending the already-placed 70 miles of fencing. The Trump Administration sent more than five-thousand active-duty soldiers to assist Border Patrol and National Guard units in October of last year.
