Rodney Hood Extinguishes The Hornets

----- Rodney Hood scores 27 points in 24 minutes as the Portland Trail Blazers improve to 5-1 on their seven-game road trip with a 118-108 win over the Charlotte Hornets Sunday afternoon at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC.

It took nine games, but Rodney Hood finally broke out of his slump and led the Trail Blazers to a 118-108 win over the Hornets Sunday afternoon in Charlotte.

Hood scored all of his 27 points in the second half on 9-for-14 shooting including 3-for-6 from three-point range. Hood got things going late in the third scoring eight-straight points at the end of the period and into the fourth. He kept attacking in the fourth scoring 21 points including another outburst with 10-straight points for the Blazers.

"I was due to have a big game," Rodney Hood said. "Credit to my teammates...for allowing me to keep going."

The Hornets tied the game at 89 with 8:17 to play in the game, but Hood quickly responded with a three-pointer to get the lead back for good. The Trail Blazers put the game away closing on a 21-12 run.

Jusuf Nurkic led the way for Portland (39-24) finishing with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists. Nice bounce back game for Nurkic after struggling Friday night in Toronto with early foul trouble. Damian Lillard added 23 points and Al-Farouq Aminu scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds.

Enes Kanter returned after missing Friday's game in Toronto (Visa issues) scoring six points and grabbing eight rebounds.

Jeremy Lamb led Charlotte (29-34) with 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting.

With the win, Portland improved to an NBA-best 19-5 against the Eastern Conference and 5-1 on their season-long seven-game road trip.

Up Next- The Blazers will finish up their season-long seven-game road trip Tuesday in Memphis against the Grizzlies. The game is scheduled to tip off at 5:00 PM.

Chad's Take- 50 wins is not even a question now. Trail Blazers focus now is moving past OKC for third in the West. One of the best road trips in recent memory. Team is deep, talented, and focused on playoff success. 19 more games to go.

Here is my reaction to Rodney Hood and the Blazers latest win over the Hornets on the "What's Chad Doing" pocast.
