Blazers Stuff The Hornets

----- The Portland Trail Blazers won their ninth-straight game at Moda Center Thursday night with a 109-103 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.

The Trail Blazers snapped a three-game losing streak Thursday night with a 109-103 overtime win over the Charlotte Hornets. With the win, the Blazers moved to within a half-game of Oklahoma City for fifth in the Western Conference playoff standings and three-games behind Minnesota for fourth place.

Portland (30-25) controlled the game through the first three quarters building a double-digit lead heading into the fourth before miscues allowed the Hornets to get back into the game. The Blazers committed seven turnovers in the fourth quarter which lead to 15 points for the Hornets. Charlotte was able to force overtime thanks to Kemba Walker. Walker led Charlotte (23-31) with 17 of his game-high 40 points in the final period.

The Blazers opened the extra period on a 9-3 run to seal the win. Jusuf Nurkic led Portland with 24 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, but he did commit seven of the Blazers' 17 turnovers on the night. Maurice Harkless got the start tonight in place of Evan Turner (Left Calf) and recorded eight points and five rebounds while playing some inspiring defense.

Notes- With a three-pointer at the 3:15 mark of the second quarter, Damian Lillard passed Jerome Kersey for fifth place on the the all-time franchise scoring list.

Next up- The Trail Blazers will play the second of a back to back Friday night in Sacramento against the Kings. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 PM.

Chad's take- The spending spree during the Summer of 2016 gave me trade deadline blues.
