Blazers A Mess In The Big Easy

----- The Trail Blazers offense was a no-show Tuesday night in New Orleans as they shoot 29.3% from the floor and get crushed by the Pelicans 100-77 at the Smoothie King Center.

The Blazers started slow tonight in New Orleans and it got worse from there. Portland scored just 16 points in the first quarter, and by the end of the first half Portland just 36 points with 9 turnovers facing a 14-point hole to climb out of.

Aside from Damian Lillard, no one for the Blazers could make shots as Portland connected on just 30.3% of their field goal attempts. Lillard led the Blazers with 29 points. Shabazz Napier was the only other Blazer to finish in double-figures. He scored 10 points in 19 minutes. It was a rough night for Jusuf Nurkic who finished with two points and four turnovers.

New Orleans (27-40) had six players score in double-figures led by Demarcus Cousins who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds.

Portland's best stretch tonight came in the third quarter. After the Pelicans increased their lead to 20 points after an 8-2 run to start the second half, the Blazers went on an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to 11 at 60-49, but after a timeout the Pelicans responded with a 10-0 run to put the game away. The Blazers never threatened after that. The 77 points scored was a season-low for the Trail Blazers and for a Pelican's opponent.

Portland (29-37) struggled to protect the ball tonight committing 16 turnovers leading to 22 points for the Pelicans.

The Blazers will now travel to San Antonio to play the Spurs on Wednesday night.

Chad's Take- This was the most uninspiring performance of the year for the Blazers. My eyes need a shower after watching the game.

Viewer discretion advised for the so-called highlights.
