Oregon Humane Society is reducing adoption fees by 50% for all adult pets this weekend, July 18-20, at their Portland and Salem campuses. The promotion is in response to an increased need to help animals during one of the busiest times of year.
“Our Portland and Salem campuses are experiencing an increase in requests to bring animals in,” says Eleena Fikhman, Director of Adoptions. “But helping more pets is only possible when loving adopters step up to help.”
In Salem, adopters for adult cats are most needed, and in Portland the need is greatest for adult dogs. In line with national trends, this is a particularly tough time for large dogs, who are waiting for the longest and having the hardest time finding a home.
“For every pet who leaves one of our shelters with a loving family, a kennel is freed up so we can help the next animal in need,” added Fikhman. “Plus, there are so many advantages to adopting an adult cat or dog. They have so much love to give and make wonderful companions.”
OHS’ Portland and Salem campuses are open every day, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
