Washington Woman Who Pushed Friend Off Bridge Changes Plea To Guilty

A woman who pushed her friend off a bridge in Washington last summer, changed her plea to guilty Monday morning during a court appearance.

Clark County prosecutors say 18-year-old Taylor Smith is the person captured on camera pushing 16-year-old Jordan Holgerson off a 60 foot bridge over the Lewis River on August 7, 2018. Holgerson was apparently trying to work up the nerve to jump, when prosecutors say Smith gave her an unexpected push that could have killed her.

Genelle Holgerson, Jordan's mother, says Jordan is going through physical therapy after losing mobility in her shoulder. She says Jordan has also developed anxiety, where she's afraid someone is going to hurt her, and is seeing a therapist.

Jordan suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung, and other injuries from the fall. Smith says she pushed Jordan because she was trying to help her get over her fear and didn't intend to injure her.

Smith has been charged with reckless endangerment and will be sentenced on March 27, 2019.
