Highway 99-E Closure This Weekend

Oregon 99E will close in both directions at milepost 14 Saturday and Sunday as crews continue to bring down rocks threatening the road.

The road will be closed to all traffic in both directions from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday while rock scalers work to bring down the loose rocks.

On Oct. 28, rocks fell onto the roadway in the area about a mile south of the Oregon City Tunnel. An inspection off the slope, which reaches 80 feet above the road in some sections, revealed numerous rocks in danger of falling. The area has a long history of rockfall.

As a detour, southbound trucks should take Interstate 205 to Oregon 213. Northbound trucks should take Barlow Road to Interstate 5.

Local residents will be allowed through as can be safely allowed.

Future closures may be necessary to complete the work.
