Armed Standoff In SW Portland

An armed woman was arrested after an hours long standoff with police in SW Portland Thursday morning.

Portland Police were called to a home on SW King Avenue around 3:30 a.m on a report of an attempted burglary.

When police found the suspect, she had barricaded herself underneath the porch of the home, and fired shots at officers. No officers were injured. 

Portland Police Bureau Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team communicated with the woman while she hid under a porch.

The woman was arrested around 7 a.m. 

She was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police asked residents to stay in their homes during the standoff.

West Burnside was closed between SW 21st and 23rd Avenues and reopened around 8 a.m.

SW King avenue to stay closed for most of the day Thursday as police investigate.
