Tres Tinkle OSU Forward named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week!

Oregon State forward Tres Tinkle was named the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.

It’s the third time Tinkle has earned the honor. He was first named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Nov. 14, 2016 and again last season on Feb. 12, 2018.

This is the second time this season an Oregon State player has been selected the Pac-12 Player of the Week, as Stephen Thompson Jr. got the recognition on Jan. 14.

Tinkle led the Beavers to their first Pac-12 road sweep in 10 years, while averaging 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in wins over Colorado and Utah. He shot 53.1 percent (17-for-32) from the field, 44.4 percent (4-for-9) from beyond the arc and 80.0 percent (12-for-15) from the free throw line.

Against the Buffaloes, he had 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in a 76-74 victory in Boulder.

Against the Utes, Tinkle had 31 points (one shy of his career high), six rebounds, four assists and two blocks in an 81-72 win in Salt Lake City. He also made a deep 3-pointer with 1:34 left in the game to hold off a late Utah rally.

The Beavers are 14-7 overall and tied for second in Pac-12 play at 6-3, equaling their best conference record through nine games since 1989-90 (the 1992-93 team also started 6-3).

This is the 50th time an Oregon State player has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week (A.C. Green and Charlie Sitton shared it on March 12, 1984).
