Seattle firefighters who were terminated over the COVID vaccine mandate marched at City Hall to drop off their boots.
MyNorthwest.com reports that one firefighter estimates that about 100 have either resigned, retired, or was terminated over the vaccine mandate.
In addition, the state fired 127 Washington State Patrol employees or about 5% of their department for failing to provide proof of the COVID vaccine.
"Of that group, 74 were commissioned officers including 67 troopers, six sergeants, and one captain. The remaining employees worked in civilian positions such as dispatchers, administrators, and instructors.
“We’ve lost good people with good hearts,” said WSP spokesperson Chris Loftis.”
Loftis adds that the terminations are “going to have lasting impacts.”
Trooper Barbara Werner is a 24-year veteran and she was one of the 67 that were fired. She says “what I do with my body is my business.”
