Boaters Rescued After Fishing Boat Capsizes

Three people in a 15 foot aluminum fishing boat were thrown into the water when the boat capsized at Detroit Lake Wednesday afternoon.

Nearby boaters came to their aid. Two of the people got out of the water on their own, but a third person had to be pulled out of the water.

Four nearby off duty firefighters with the Stayton, Gaston and Sublimity Fire Departments saw the rescue and came to assist. When they arrived the fireman performed CPR on the man until he could be Life Flighted to the Salem Hospital where he remains in critical condition. 

None of the occupants was wearing life preservers.
