Kelso Employee Shot, Killed In Robbery

Kelso Police are trying to identify a suspect who shot and killed a convenience store clerk during a robbery Tuesday morning.

The robbery happened at Holt's Quik Chek, located at 400 Cowlitz Way in Kelso around 4:12 a.m.

The clerk, identified as 30-year-old Kayla Chapman, was able to call 911 for help despite her wounds.

The suspect is believed to be a black, or dark skinned, male. He used a hat and bandana to cover his head and face. 

The suspect vehicle is described as a newer white four door sedan.  

Police believe there were other occupants in the vehicle.

The Washington State Patrol sent its crime scene unit to assist with the investigation.
