Two Suspects Ram ATM With Front Loader, Steal Cash

Hillsboro Police search for two suspects accused of ramming an ATM with a front loader and taking off with cash Tuesday morning.

Police say they received reports of someone driving a tractor over a drive-through ATM at The Wells Fargo on NE Butler Street in Hillsboro.

The tractor drove over the ATM machine, causing significant damage.

Police say the driver and another suspect, who was waiting in a U-Haul van, stole an undetermined amount of cash from the ATM before taking off in the U-Haul.

Officers gave chase and tried to stop the U-Haul on NE Cornell Road, but police ended the pursuit for safety reasons.

A few minutes later, officers responded to reports of suspicious activity and found the U-Haul abandoned on NE Aloclek Drive, north of NE Evergreen Parkway.

Police say they searched for the suspects in a nearby forest with a police K-9, but were unable to find the suspects.
