Reese's Announces New Cup Without Classic Ingredient

Few things go better together than the chocolate and peanut butter in Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

However, the global candy company has announced a new cup that won't include half of its signature combo.

Reese's announced its new Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers cup, which will have its peanut butter filling surrounded by a peanut butter flavored candy shell.

The company previously released limited runs of a Peanut Butter Lovers cup, which has the classic chocolate cup covered in an extra layer of smooth, sweet peanut butter creme.

The new Reese's Ultimate Peanut Butter Cup will be sold in standard, king and miniature sizes beginning in April for a limited time.

"While launching a Reese's Cup with absolutely no chocolate might come as a shock, we're giving the truest peanut butter fans something to go wild about," said Reese's brand manager Margo McIlvaine in a statement obtained by USA TODAY.

The initial Peanut Butter Lovers Cups with some chocolate were sold in 2019 and 2020.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are one of the most recognizable candy brands, having generated more than $2 billion in annual revenue for The Hershey Company.

The candy brand has had numerous "limited edition" variations throughout its 92-year history, which has current size variations such as Minis, Thins and the Big Cup, as well as filling and coating variations.
