The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the Trump administration must hand over his tax returns to Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, a Democrat, who called the decision a “tremendous victory for our nation’s system of justice.”
But while scoring a victory against President Trump will attract praise from the left at Fifth Avenue cocktail parties, Vance’s celebration over the decision comes while the city that he has been tasked to protect descends into chaos.
Buck Sexton, the host of “The Buck Sexton Show,” called out Vance and said while the prosecutor chases around Trump and his alleged hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, the city has experienced a historic surge in shootings and violence.
“As Manhattan D.A., he’s in charge of making sure that things in this town don’t fall apart. They’re falling apart. So he’s doing a horrible job. But what could make him a hero forever? Take down Trump,” Sexton said.
Last week, the NYPD leadership made a stunning public rebuke of Vance and demanded to know why he failed to show his face atany of Fourth of July shootings that swept across the city.
“Manhattan DA Vance where are you?” Assistant Chief Stephen Hughes tweeted, according to the New York Post. “Our community is being attacked, there have been 24 people shot in the city in the past 24 hours. Where Are You!!!”
Sexton said nothing stirs that Democrat base like the thought of seeing a big, fat payment into Trump’s bank account from Russian President Vladimir Putin, which he said is not going to happen.
Justice Samuel Alito, according to the paper, said, “The subpoena at issue here is unprecedented. Never before has a local prosecutor subpoenaed the records of a sitting president. The court’s decision threatens to impair the functioning of the presidency and provides no real protection against the use of the subpoena power by the nation’s 2,300+ local prosecutors.”
The Supreme Court, however, blocked Congress from obtaining the records, a move praised by Jay Sekulow, Trump’s personal attorney. The ruling, according to USA Today, means that the public will not see the records nor will congressional investigators obtain them before the 2020 election. The fight will likely continue in the lower courts.
“The Supreme Court sends case back to Lower Court, arguments to continue. This is all a political prosecution. I won the Mueller Witch Hunt, and others, and now I have to keep fighting in a politically corrupt New York. Not fair to this Presidency or Administration!” Trump tweeted.
