DUI Suspect Hits Pedestrians Renting Scooters

On Monday August 13, 2018, at 4:05 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Southwest 3rd Avenue and Pine Street on the report that two people were hit by a driver who fled the scene in a silver vehicle. 

Officers arrived and contacted the victims and learned that neither person suffered serious injuries that required medical treatment at the scene. The victims were on the sidewalk attempting to rent scooters when the driver hit them then fled the area. 

A witness followed the suspect and responding officers located the suspect vehicle at Southwest 3rd Avenue and Clay Street and detained the driver on suspicion of hit and run and drunk driving. 

The suspect, 37-year-old Sheldon Lamar Scott, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Attempted Assault in the Second Degree (two counts), Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver (two counts), Reckless Driving, and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.
