Man Drowns In North Fork Of The Lewis River

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office was called to the North Fork of the Lewis River near Cedar Creek Friday afternoon on a report of a drowning.

A 24-year-old man was swimming with friends when he went under and didn’t resurface.

Rescue located the missing swimmer in about 15 feet of water, deceased and presumed drowned.  Rescue was unable to reach the deceased.  A dive team was called to recover the individual.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.

The temperature of rivers throughout the area is very cold and swimming isn’t advised, despite the warmer weather expected later this week.
