Damian Lillard’s Half Brother Might Have Been Targeted

At approximately 8:57 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018, several 911 calls came in reporting gunfire in the parking lot of the Clackamas Town Center mall (12000 SE 82nd Ave., Clackamas County).

Callers reported hearing anywhere from 5 to 10 shots fired and seeing two males run from the parking lot -- as well as one male, who appeared to be shot, running into the mall.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the scene along with other agencies, including Transit Police, Milwaukie PD and Gladstone PD. Transit Police located one adult male with multiple gunshot wounds just inside the front entrance of the Macy’s Home Store, on the ground near a bed display. The victim told authorities he was shot by two African-American men while walking to his car.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot on the north side of the mall, near the entrance to the Century Clackamas Town Center movie theater and Macy’s Home Store.

The victim -- Jahrell Hassan Lillard, 20, of San Leandro, California -- was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. He was shot multiple times and is in stable condition.

Deputies and officers searched the area for the suspects involved but were unable to locate them. Suspect descriptions:

  • SUSPECT 1: Adult African-American male wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants.

  • SUSPECT 2: Adult African-American male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Both suspects were seen running north through the parking lot towards SE Monterey Ave.

Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit (HVCU) detectives responded to the scene, reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses. At this writing investigators believe Lillard may have been the victim of a targeted attack by the two suspects, though case details are still developing.

The Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit also responded to the scene. Several vehicles in the parking lot were damaged by gunfire and are currently being processed for forensic evidence.

Lillard remains hospitalized. His current condition is unknown.
