Oregon Historical Society Free Admission For Kids

Planning a stay-cation this spring break? Add a trip to the Oregon Historical Society to your activity calendar-- the Oregon Historical Society is offering free admission for kids 18 and under during Oregon's spring break week, March 26 -- 30.

The Oregon Historical Society's museum has every gallery full of exciting exhibitions, including:

Racing to Change: Oregon's Civil Rights Years

Now through June 24

Curated by the Oregon Black Pioneers, Racing to Change showcases an exciting period in Oregon and national history--while the 1960s and 1970s were filled with cultural and social upheaval, conflict, and change, it was also an era of celebration, experimentation, and achievement for African Americans. Through the Civil Rights Movement, young people made their voices heard, and were propelled to be catalysts for change within their communities.

Oregon State University: A Legacy of Transformation

Now through September 9

Celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, Oregon State University has created an exhibition sharing 150 stories that show how Oregon State University has transformed the community, the state, the nation, and the world in surprising ways. From revolutionizing track and field, to inventing the computer mouse, to animating Pixar classics like Monsters Inc. and Ratatouille, this high-tech interactive exhibit sheds a light on many of OSU's history-making alumni.

History Hub

Permanent Exhibit

The Oregon Historical Society's first ever exhibit made for kids, by kids, History Hub invites families to explore the topic of diversity through fun, hands-on elements. With puzzles, touch screen activities, and board games, History Hub asks students to consider questions like "Who is an Oregonian?," "How has discrimination and segregation affected people who live in Oregon?," and "How can you make Oregon a great place for everyone?"

Oregon My Oregon

Closing for renovation April 29!

Oregon My Oregon delighted hundreds of thousands of visitors of all ages during its fourteen year run. On April 29, we will say goodbye to Oregon My Oregon, relaunching a brand new state of the art permanent exhibition on February 14, 2019.

Spring break is the perfect opportunity to take a final tour through Oregon My Oregon! Learn about Oregon's rich history through two theaters, a re-creation of a Hudson's Bay Company ship hull, a 19th century explorer's tent, a covered wagon, and a store stocked with 1940s-era merchandise from the Hood River Yasui Brothers Mercantile.

Museum hours are Monday -- Saturday from 10am -- 5pm and Sunday from 12pm -- 5pm. General admission is $11, and admission is free every day for OHS members and Multnomah County residents!
