Portland Police responded to the Target at 939 Southwest Morrison Street regarding an individual that had jumped behind the pharmacy counter and began pushing over shelves and throwing merchandise.
The individual continued to destroy the pharmacy by swinging a large metal pole at shelves that held pharmaceuticals and pharmacy equipment.
Officers arrived and challenged the suspect who dropped the metal pole and was taken into custody without further incident.
Target indicated that nearly all the medications, medical supplies and shelves were destroyed. The business estimates the damage to total over $100,000.
The suspect, 21-year-old Ashely Daniel, was transported and lodged into the Multnomah County Detention Center on criminal mischief, burglary and disorderly conduct charges.
